Disappointment is really the only word to describe this act of ignorance. I don’t how Rolling Stone was able to get approval of such an impudent cover, but by the way they displayed it, they made the Boston Marathon Bomber, Jahar Tsarnaev, look like the lead in a current rock band. On one side of the magazine they talk about upcoming artists and Jay Z’s new album, and then under the professional picture of Jahar, they display (in a much smaller font) his identity.
When did it become okay to commercialize killers??
After being on lock down for 24 hrs, not knowing where friends and family were, and even losing loved ones, Bostonians and all Americans now have to see the enlarged glamorized face of a terrorist on one of America’s most popular magazines. It is simply unacceptable for the media to propagate an individual that killed innocent civilians and injured more than 170 others. So thanks Rolling Stone, for slapping Boston and the Marathon Bombing victims’ right across the face. I am confident that my wonderful city will not let this act of stupidity be overlooked.
Such a beautiful and touching story of 17 year old Zach Sobiech, who passed away of cancer today. Share his story!
Today is the day. The day that every individual should be pampering the woman that raised them, the woman that puts their needs in front of hers, and the woman that will never leave their side. Today is the day everyone should be celebrating their mother.
To me, mother’s day is an important celebration of the special bond that I share with my mom. Her character, patience, and integrity have made me the person I am today, and I will always be grateful to her for that. I can only hope that one day I will be the mother that my mom has been to me, because not only is she the woman that gave birth to me, but she is also the woman that nurtures me, educates me, and chooses to love me (even though I can drive her crazy).
Moms don’t stop being amazing for even a day, so we shouldn’t stop being grateful! Pamper your mom everyday and tell her how much you love her, because life is only getting shorter and your mom is the one woman who will TRULY accept you for who you are.
Classes are over, the sun in shining, and friends are graduating.
I have decided…this summer is going to be different for me.
Numerous events have happened in the past year which has made me realize I should live every waking moment happy with the people I love. From the Connecticut shootings to the Boston Marathon Bombings, no one has any idea what life has in store for them, and at what time their life will change.
Even though I always promise myself that I will take advantage of my summer, it always ends up being a lot of food, a lot of sleep, and a lot of TV. This summer I want it to be different. I want to continue doing those three things but I also want to explore and be adventurous. We are only young for so long, and with this kind of energy and freedom it would be a shame to go waste. A couple things on my summer bucket list:
-Pick up my (very dusty) guitar, and learn 5 new songs
-Teach my friends how to roller-blade
-Explore different places of the Northeast (DC, PA, RI, etc)
-Paint, and give my paintings to random friends and family
-Finish a different book every 2 weeks max
-Blog every week
No more wasting time. Life is precious and every day should be spent doing something worth the time. This summer, I’m going to look back with no regrets.
